How do you make historical state, background execution, and customer-facing APIs reliable enough to become product primitives?

You'll get to answer questions like these while the answers are still being formed. The abstractions you design will be used by customers, product engineers, external developers, and agents—and will shape which products Lightfield can build next. Own and maintain a source of truth for how we describe the product across segments and personas — founders, sales leaders, RevOps — and the discipline to keep every rep, every page, and every deck consistent with it.\n\n - Own pricing and packaging. You'll define how we package and price value that isn't measured in seats, run the analysis and customer research behind it, model the revenue impact, and drive the changes through the company.\n\n - Arm the sales team to win. Own the sales asset library end to end: the pitch deck, battle cards, competitive teardowns, ROI models, comparison pages, one-pagers, security and objection handling. The materials in the room when a prospect is deciding are your responsibility.\n\n - Run enablement. Build the onboarding and ongoing enablement that gets new reps productive fast — call reviews, talk tracks, objection libraries, certification on the pitch. You'll measure success in win rates and ramp time, not asset counts.\n\n - Own competitive intelligence. Know the competition better than they know themselves. Build the muscle that tracks their moves, feeds the field in real time, and turns their positioning into our advantage.\n\n - Drive launches that land. Partner with product and the founders to bring every major release to market with a clear story, the right proof, and coordinated GTM behind it.\n\n\n\n\nWHO YOU ARE\n\n - You’ve defined or redefined how a market understands a product. Not “why us over them,” but “why this kind of thing should exist at all” - and you've directly improved win rate and pipeline generation through positioning work. You can walk us through the before, the after, and what changed deals as a result.\n\n - You're an excellent writer. Positioning lives or dies in the sentences. You write with precision and taste, and you can tell the difference between messaging that tests well in a workshop versus messaging that changes what a prospect says in a deal.\n\n - You're commercially fluent. You've owned pricing and packaging decisions, built the models behind them, and lived with the consequences. You think in win rates, ACV, conversion, and ramp time.\n\n - You love working with sales. You've sat on sales calls, listened to recordings, and tested messaging live with prospects, instead of operating under assumptions. Reps ask for your materials rather than making their own.\n\n - You're technically curious. You don't need to be an engineer, but you're genuinely interested in how products work under the hood — data models, integrations, agent architecture — and you can explain them simply without dumbing them down.\n\n - You're AI-native. You use AI to run competitive research, synthesize customer calls, draft and iterate, and move at speeds that weren't possible two years ago.\n\n - You operate at early-stage pace. You've built a function from zero. You're energized by ambiguity, you ship rather than debate frameworks, and you'd rather write the battle card today than schedule a workshop about it.\n \n \n\n\nNICE TO HAVE\n\n - 7+ years in product marketing, with time at both an early-stage company and a company that scaled.\n\n - Experience at a technical product company, or in a developer/data/AI-adjacent space.\n\n - You've marketed to founders, sales leaders, or RevOps buyers.\n\n - You've navigated a pricing model transition (seats to usage, or similar).\n\n - You've hired and managed product marketers.\n\n\n\n\nBENEFITS & PERKS\n\n - Competitive salary\n\n - Meaningful early equity\n\n - Health insurance (medical, dental, vision)\n\n - 3 weeks of PTO\n\n - 11 paid company holidays + we enjoy a winter holiday break\n\n - 3 months of paid family leave\n\n - Wednesdays work from home\n\n - Regular team dinners, events, offsites, and retreats\n\n - 401k plan\n\n - Other perks include: commuter and lunch stipend"},{"id":"e99f09a6-bb39-45bd-b963-a00666feae1d","title":"Performance Marketing Lead","department":"GTM","team":"GTM","employmentType":"FullTime","location":"HQ: San Francisco","secondaryLocations":[],"publishedAt":"2026-05-08T23:10:55.295+00:00","isListed":true,"isRemote":false,"workplaceType":"OnSite","address":{"postalAddress":{"addressRegion":"California","addressCountry":"USA","addressLocality":"San Francisco"}},"jobUrl":"https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/Lightfield/e99f09a6-bb39-45bd-b963-a00666feae1d","applyUrl":"https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/Lightfield/e99f09a6-bb39-45bd-b963-a00666feae1d/application","descriptionHtml":"
About Lightfield

Lightfield is an AI-native CRM that assembles itself from your email, calendar, and meetings. Before Lightfield, our team worked on Llama, Instagram, Facebook Messenger, Pinterest, Google, and Salesforce.

About the role

We're building the infrastructure foundation for a fast-growing AI product company serving thousands of customers:

Our Postgres fleet serves 5B+ queries a month — roughly 2,500 QPS steady state, with sustained spikes past 25,000 QPS — and database workload more than doubled last month.

Redis sustains ~50,000 commands per second behind a job platform that executes 10M+ background job runs a day across ~170 queues.

We ingest tens of millions of emails and calendar events a month.

That growth creates scaling pressure across backend systems, infrastructure, and data infrastructure. We're hiring a staff-level engineer who spikes in data infrastructure but is excited to work across backend systems, infrastructure, and product-facing data problems. The work is close to the product, close to customers, and close to production.

As a Software Engineer, Data Infrastructure, you'll build the next generation of our data systems. We got remarkably far on a deliberately simple stack: Postgres as the system of record, a sharded transactional outbox for change events, Redis-buffered sync into Typesense for search, BullMQ for processing, and Postgres-backed customer-facing analytics with per-organization row-level security.

The next phase is evolving that pragmatic foundation into best-practice data architecture: change data capture, event modeling, schema design, query performance, freshness guarantees, and the right boundary between transactional and analytical workloads.

The system of record itself is unusual. Customers define their own objects, attributes, and relationships at runtime, so the core data model is a schema-flexible, graph-shaped store: entity-attribute-value with typed edges, versioned attribute values, and relationship history. That makes schema design, indexing, and query performance genuinely hard problems rather than routine tuning.

The surface area is wider than analytics: customer-facing dashboards, historical and audit data, datasets that power pipeline-generation products, and evaluation data that measures our AI agents. This is data infrastructure work, not a BI or dashboarding role. It's a good fit for someone who likes high-volume data systems, pragmatic architecture decisions, and building foundations that product and engineering teams can actually depend on.

This role can be based in San Francisco or Cambridge. It captures every interaction and turns it into organized context: accounts, tasks, follow-ups, and insights, so nothing slips through the cracks.\n\nWe’re rethinking CRM from first principles. Instead of forcing teams to maintain rigid systems, Lightfield learns from how companies actually work, adapting, automating, and surfacing the insight that drives growth. We’re building the CRM platform we always wished existed: fast, intelligent, and genuinely helpful.\n\nThe market agrees. Over 5,000 companies have used Lightfield since we launched in November, making us the fastest-adopted product in our category. We are backed by Greylock, Lightspeed, and Coatue, and our founders previously built Tome, a generative AI presentation product used by over 25 million people. Before Lightfield, our team worked on Llama, Instagram, Facebook Messenger, Pinterest, Google, and Salesforce.\n\n\n\n\nABOUT THE ROLE\n\nWe're building the infrastructure foundation for a fast-growing AI product company serving thousands of customers:\n\n - Our Postgres fleet serves 5B+ queries a month — roughly 2,500 QPS steady state, with sustained spikes past 25,000 QPS — and database workload more than doubled last month.\n\n - Redis sustains ~50,000 commands per second behind a job platform that executes 10M+ background job runs a day across ~170 queues.\n\n - We ingest tens of millions of emails and calendar events a month.\n\nThat growth creates scaling pressure across backend systems, infrastructure, and data infrastructure. We're hiring a staff-level engineer who spikes in data infrastructure but is excited to work across backend systems, infrastructure, and product-facing data problems. The work is close to the product, close to customers, and close to production.\n\nAs a Software Engineer, Data Infrastructure, you'll build the next generation of our data systems. We got remarkably far on a deliberately simple stack: Postgres as the system of record, a sharded transactional outbox for change events, Redis-buffered sync into Typesense for search, BullMQ for processing, and Postgres-backed customer-facing analytics with per-organization row-level security.\n\nThe next phase is evolving that pragmatic foundation into best-practice data architecture: change data capture, event modeling, schema design, query performance, freshness guarantees, and the right boundary between transactional and analytical workloads.\n\nThe system of record itself is unusual. Customers define their own objects, attributes, and relationships at runtime, so the core data model is a schema-flexible, graph-shaped store: entity-attribute-value with typed edges, versioned attribute values, and relationship history. That makes schema design, indexing, and query performance genuinely hard problems rather than routine tuning.\n\nThe surface area is wider than analytics: customer-facing dashboards, historical and audit data, datasets that power pipeline-generation products, and evaluation data that measures our AI agents. This is data infrastructure work, not a BI or dashboarding role. It's a good fit for someone who likes high-volume data systems, pragmatic architecture decisions, and building foundations that product and engineering teams can actually depend on.\n\nThis role can be based in San Francisco or Cambridge. In San Francisco, you'd work from our HQ alongside the founders and most of the engineering team. In Cambridge, you'd join an initial group of staff-level engineers at our new, infrastructure-focused Kendall Square site, working alongside one of our most senior infrastructure engineers. We aim to build the site and organization around this group as the company scales.\n\n\n\n\nWHAT YOU'LL DO\n\n - Scale the analytics engine behind customer-facing dashboards, tackling query performance under row-level security, workload isolation, read architecture, and observability as data volume grows.\n\n - Design the ingestion paths, event models, schemas, and query patterns that move data from transactional writes into search, dashboards, and history—with clear guarantees around freshness, correctness, replay, and failure recovery.\n\n - Evolve our schema-flexible, graph-shaped data model so customer-defined objects, attributes, and relationships remain fast to query as their size and complexity grow.\n\n - Build the foundations for historical reporting and auditability, including attribute versioning, relationship history, and change capture.\n\n - Build reliable data systems for usage metering, pipeline generation, and AI evaluation, where errors have direct customer, product, or financial consequences.\n\n - Decide when our existing architecture remains the right foundation and when new analytical, streaming, or workflow systems earn their added complexity.\n\n - Set the technical direction, abstractions, ownership boundaries, and engineering practices for data systems as the company grows.\n\n\n\n\nWHAT YOUR FIRST YEAR LOOKS LIKE\n\nScaling the analytics serving path behind customer-facing dashboards is the anchor project, but the work stays close to the product. The current slate also includes:\n\n - Zero-downtime schema migrations for an 18-collection Typesense search deployment.\n\n - A usage-metering pipeline for consumption billing.\n\n - Historical and audit data modeling.\n\n - Evaluation data infrastructure for our AI agents.\n\nExpect a first year that mixes foundational data systems with product-shaped projects, with the scope to own the technical direction for how data is modeled, moved, and served across Lightfield—and to shape the architecture, abstractions, and team we build as the company scales.\n\n\n\n\nWHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR\n\n - 7+ years experience.\n\n - Strong software engineering fundamentals.\n\n - Experience owning production data systems where query plans, replication lag, backfills, data freshness, schema evolution, or data correctness had real user-facing consequences.\n\n - Comfort debugging across multiple layers of the stack.\n\n - Good judgment about when to make a tactical fix and when to invest in a more durable platform or architecture change.\n\n - Product orientation: you care about how data infrastructure decisions affect customers, users, and engineering velocity.\n\n - Clear communication, strong ownership, and a bias toward practical tradeoffs.\n\n\n\n\nHELPFUL EXPERIENCE\n\nYou do not need all of these:\n\n - ClickHouse, OLAP systems, event pipelines, data warehouses, or analytical infrastructure.\n\n - Kafka, Flink, Spark, Iceberg, or similar streaming and lakehouse systems.\n\n - Postgres at scale, and the boundary between OLTP and OLAP systems.\n\n - APIs, queues, workflow systems, and distributed systems.\n\n - Observability, incident response, service ownership, and production debugging.\n\n - Data for ML/AI systems: enrichment pipelines, eval harnesses, or data-quality tooling.\n\n - Experience in a high-growth product environment.\n\n\n\n\nWHY THIS ROLE IS INTERESTING\n\nYou'd be building our analytical data architecture from close to the beginning — the foundations are deliberately simple, and the architecture that scales them is yours to shape. Customer-facing data products are on the roadmap, database workload more than doubled last month, and the foundations you build will carry the company for years.\n\n\n\n\nBENEFITS & PERKS\n\n - Competitive salary\n\n - Meaningful early equity\n\n - Health insurance (medical, dental, vision)\n\n - 3 weeks of PTO\n\n - 11 paid company holidays + we enjoy a winter holiday break\n\n - 3 months of paid family leave\n\n - Wednesdays work from home\n\n - Regular team dinners, events, offsites, and retreats\n\n - 401k plan\n\n - Other perks include: commuter and lunch stipend"},{"id":"b7b4cc0a-fd54-4b85-a065-e98f0978924d","title":"Head of Content","department":"GTM","team":"GTM","employmentType":"FullTime","location":"HQ: San Francisco","secondaryLocations":[],"publishedAt":"2026-08-19T15:37:31.148+00:00","isListed":true,"isRemote":false,"workplaceType":"OnSite","address":{"postalAddress":{"addressRegion":"California","addressCountry":"USA","addressLocality":"San Francisco"}},"jobUrl":"https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/Lightfield/b7b4cc0a-fd54-4b85-a065-e98f0978924d","applyUrl":"https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/Lightfield/b7b4cc0a-fd54-4b85-a065-e98f0978924d/application","descriptionHtml":"
About Lightfield

Lightfield is an AI-native CRM that assembles itself from your email, calendar, and meetings. Before Lightfield, our team worked on Llama, Instagram, Facebook Messenger, Pinterest, Google, and Salesforce.\n\n\n\n\nABOUT THE ROLE\n\nEverything above about our inbound funnel is true, and this isn't that seat.\n\nStrategic sells to high growth Series B and C companies ready to make Lightfield their entire GTM system — not a CRM sitting alongside six other tools, but the thing sales, marketing and customer success all run on. That means the sale includes sales methodology, reporting and forecasting, and it means you're replacing systems and process a company has already built around.\n\nThere aren't many of these deals. Each one runs $80–150K, takes real discovery, and is won across a buying committee rather than with a champion. You'll spend more time on fewer accounts than anyone else, and each one you land changes the company's revenue profile.\n\nThere's no strategic playbook to inherit. There's a product with real traction, a category argument that hasn't been made yet at this deal size, and a founder who'll be in your deals with you.\n\n\n\n\nWHAT YOU'LL DO\n\n - Own a small book of Series B and C target accounts, self-sourced and worked deliberately\n\n - Run deep discovery — how they sell today, what their methodology is, where forecasting breaks, what they've built process around\n\n - Multi-thread across sales, marketing and customer success leadership, because the whole GTM is the sale and no one of those three can buy it alone\n\n - Design the implementation: what gets migrated, in what order, which team goes live first, what the first 90 days look like\n\n - Displace incumbent systems — data, migration and change-management objections alongside product ones\n\n - Build the strategic motion itself: target account criteria, the discovery framework, the migration story, the pilot structure\n\n - Partner with product on what Series B and C companies need that we don't have yet\n\n\nWHO YOU ARE\n\n - 5–10 years selling B2B SaaS, with a documented record closing at $80K+ ACV\n\n - You self-source. Instead of forcing teams to maintain rigid systems, Lightfield learns from how companies actually work, adapting, automating, and surfacing the insight that drives growth. We’re building the CRM platform we always wished existed: fast, intelligent, and genuinely helpful.

The market agrees. Over 5,000 companies have used Lightfield since we launched in November, making us the fastest-adopted product in our category. We are backed by Greylock, Lightspeed, and Coatue, and our founders previously built Tome, a generative AI presentation product used by over 25 million people. Before Lightfield, our team worked on Llama, Instagram, Facebook Messenger, Pinterest, Google, and Salesforce.

About the role

If you want to be part of the AI wave and are drawn to the systems challenges of a product used by both people and agents, this role is for you. Lightfield's infrastructure supports human-interactive requests, agent-driven queries and actions, scheduled agents, and continuous ingestion of email, calendar, and meeting data. Based in our Cambridge office, you'll work on the databases, scheduling, permissions, and distributed systems that keep these workloads fast, isolated, and reliable as they share the same underlying customer data.

The work is not research, but many of the same habits matter: forming hypotheses, reading unfamiliar systems deeply, designing careful experiments, and explaining what the evidence shows. You'll use those habits on problems like these:

Querying a schema-flexible data model. Customers define their own object types, fields, and relationships at runtime, while the underlying data is stored in Postgres. We work on query planning, indexing, and data-access patterns that keep those records fast to filter and aggregate as datasets grow.

Record-level permissions across relationships. Access can come from ownership, direct grants, group membership, or inheritance from another record. We need a permissions model that evaluates those paths efficiently and produces the same answer across the application, API, search, dashboards, and agents.

Balancing real-time and batch workloads. Search indexing competes with historical imports and backfills for shared database and queue capacity. We use concurrency controls, prioritization, and backpressure to keep real-time updates moving while still processing large batches.

You'll design and review systems, debug production behavior, and gradually take full ownership of one or more subsystems. You'll ship production work early with close design and code review, then take on increasingly open-ended projects as you demonstrate readiness.

You'd join a small, systems-focused engineering group in our new Kendall Square office early enough to help establish how it works, alongside a site lead who is one of our most senior infrastructure engineers.

What you'll do

Ship production work early with close design and code review, then grow into end-to-end ownership of a system.

Investigate systems methodically: reproduce behavior, add instrumentation, form a hypothesis, and test it against production evidence.

Work on query performance, data modeling, permissions, scheduling, and keeping customer-facing data fresh.

Debug real production issues across application code, databases, queues, and infrastructure.

Learn how production systems are designed and operated through code review, incident response, and owning what you ship.

What we're looking for

Strong computer science fundamentals and a degree in CS or a related field.

Depth somewhere systems-shaped: research experience, coursework you went deep on (operating systems, databases, distributed systems, security), a systems-flavored internship, or a project you can talk about for an hour.

Curiosity about how things actually work. Before Lightfield, our team worked on Llama, Instagram, Facebook Messenger, Pinterest, Google, and Salesforce.\n\n\n\n\nABOUT THE ROLE\n\nIf you want to be part of the AI wave and are drawn to the systems challenges of a product used by both people and agents, this role is for you. Lightfield's infrastructure supports human-interactive requests, agent-driven queries and actions, scheduled agents, and continuous ingestion of email, calendar, and meeting data. Based in our Cambridge office, you'll work on the databases, scheduling, permissions, and distributed systems that keep these workloads fast, isolated, and reliable as they share the same underlying customer data.\n\nThe work is not research, but many of the same habits matter: forming hypotheses, reading unfamiliar systems deeply, designing careful experiments, and explaining what the evidence shows. You'll use those habits on problems like these:\n\n - Querying a schema-flexible data model. Customers define their own object types, fields, and relationships at runtime, while the underlying data is stored in Postgres. We work on query planning, indexing, and data-access patterns that keep those records fast to filter and aggregate as datasets grow.\n\n - Record-level permissions across relationships. Access can come from ownership, direct grants, group membership, or inheritance from another record. We need a permissions model that evaluates those paths efficiently and produces the same answer across the application, API, search, dashboards, and agents.\n\n - Balancing real-time and batch workloads. Search indexing competes with historical imports and backfills for shared database and queue capacity. We use concurrency controls, prioritization, and backpressure to keep real-time updates moving while still processing large batches.\n\nYou'll design and review systems, debug production behavior, and gradually take full ownership of one or more subsystems. You'll ship production work early with close design and code review, then take on increasingly open-ended projects as you demonstrate readiness.\n\nYou'd join a small, systems-focused engineering group in our new Kendall Square office early enough to help establish how it works, alongside a site lead who is one of our most senior infrastructure engineers.\n\n\n\n\nWHAT YOU'LL DO\n\n - Ship production work early with close design and code review, then grow into end-to-end ownership of a system.\n\n - Investigate systems methodically: reproduce behavior, add instrumentation, form a hypothesis, and test it against production evidence.\n\n - Work on query performance, data modeling, permissions, scheduling, and keeping customer-facing data fresh.\n\n - Debug real production issues across application code, databases, queues, and infrastructure.\n\n - Learn how production systems are designed and operated through code review, incident response, and owning what you ship.\n\n\n\n\nWHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR\n\n - Strong computer science fundamentals and a degree in CS or a related field.\n\n - Depth somewhere systems-shaped: research experience, coursework you went deep on (operating systems, databases, distributed systems, security), a systems-flavored internship, or a project you can talk about for an hour.\n\n - Curiosity about how things actually work. You'd rather understand the query planner than work around it.\n\n - Ownership: you finish things, and you care that they keep working after you ship them.\n\n - Clear communication about technical decisions and tradeoffs.\n\n\n\n\nWHY THIS ROLE IS INTERESTING\n\nMost new grad roles put you several layers away from the systems that matter. This one doesn't. You'll see how decisions about data models, query plans, permissions, and scheduling affect real customers, while working closely with experienced infrastructure engineers. If you want to turn academic depth into production judgment and do serious systems work without leaving Cambridge, this is that job.\n\n \n\n\n\n\nBENEFITS & PERKS\n\n - Competitive salary\n\n - Meaningful early equity\n\n - Health insurance (medical, dental, vision)\n\n - 3 weeks of PTO\n\n - 11 paid company holidays + we enjoy a winter holiday break\n\n - 3 months of paid family leave\n\n - Wednesdays work from home\n\n - Regular team dinners, events, offsites, and retreats\n\n - 401k plan\n\n - Other perks include: commuter and lunch stipend"},{"id":"18c7c385-69f3-4dcb-91f2-c9edee8bcb20","title":"Founding Recruiter, GTM","department":"Talent","team":"Talent","employmentType":"FullTime","location":"HQ: San Francisco","secondaryLocations":[],"publishedAt":"2026-08-12T08:58:51.868+00:00","isListed":true,"isRemote":false,"workplaceType":"OnSite","address":{"postalAddress":{"addressRegion":"California","addressCountry":"USA","addressLocality":"San Francisco"}},"jobUrl":"https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/Lightfield/18c7c385-69f3-4dcb-91f2-c9edee8bcb20","applyUrl":"https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/Lightfield/18c7c385-69f3-4dcb-91f2-c9edee8bcb20/application","descriptionHtml":"
About Lightfield

Lightfield is an AI-native CRM that assembles itself from your email, calendar, and meetings.
