Benchling is seeking a Software Engineer to join our Study Lifecycle team, one of two teams that is focused on making software that can be used in more regulated environments. Given our mission to accelerate the pace of life sciences research, we have to make scientific experimentation easier, more reproducible, and efficient via Benchling! Our team is foundational to Benchling’s success, given the critical role of designing and learning from experiments in the scientific process. We provide ways to aggregate data within Benchling and process them for use in analyses.
As a member of this team, you'll play a key role in building intuitive interfaces, developing robust backend services, and ensuring our platform scales to meet the needs of researchers around the world. Engineer across our stack, from designing and implementing backend models & APIs to crafting rich frontend components and architecture.
Work closely with product managers, designers, and other teams to build the best product possible for our users.
Create entirely net-new products, while also investing in taking existing products to feature completeness.
Writes extremely well-documented and well-tested code that follows company best practices.
As a member of the engineering team, you'll be an integral part of how we mature our tooling, best practices, and engineering processes.
Have around 2-4 years of experience in a full-time software engineering role.

ROLE OVERVIEW
Benchling is hiring a Software Engineer for our Infrastructure Engineering team to build and operate the platform that powers our product. RESPONSIBILITIES

We are seeking a motivated and results-driven Strategic Account Executive to join our growing team in Denmark (please note this position is based in Denmark). In this role, you will be responsible for driving new business within your Nordics territory, focusing on building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders across various personas within an account. This is where the Data Input team comes in.
The Data Input team builds a platform and user experiences to help scientists and lab operators more efficiently capture and work with their data. The team develops structured tables, forms, and data entry tooling that enables scientists to input, transform, and propagate their laboratory data downstream. We focus on both the user experience of scientists working in the lab as well as the ability of other software developers to integrate the components we create into their applications. Increasingly, our work involves developing AI-powered features that make data entry faster, more accurate, and more intelligent.
The Data Input team owns components that over 90% of Benchling customers use, and is a key contributor to initiatives with company-wide impact. The team is currently focused on enhancing the core capabilities of the platform that Benchling's most important applications are built on — investing in foundational re-architecture, performance, and scalability work that will unlock new APIs, AI-powered features, and future product capabilities. This is technically complex work that requires careful sequencing and an eye toward long-term payoff. This role is ideal for managers who are energized by deep technical work, who have a track record of leading teams through large-scale refactors and platform migrations, and who find satisfaction in building the foundations that directly enable customer-facing wins.
Recruit, develop, and lead a team of exceptional software engineers.
Partner closely with product and design to define roadmap and long-term product strategy. In the near term, drive execution of foundational technical initiatives and API delivery that improve the performance, reliability, scalability, and extensibility of the team's platform, including identifying and prioritizing opportunities for AI-powered features as the platform matures.
Hold an unreasonably high bar for product quality as the team executes its work.
Partner closely with engineers on the team to ensure excellent technical decisions as you lay the foundations for new products and extend mature ones. Directly perform code reviews and engage with the team's codebase.
Meet with customers to understand their science and what they need from Benchling, particularly around data entry workflows in research, development, and manufacturing contexts.
Translate strategy into execution by developing and executing quarterly plans with clear metrics and targets.
Contribute to engineering-wide organizational improvements as part of the management team.
2+ years of experience as an engineering manager.
5+ years of experience as a software engineer, with experience as a technical lead on projects that involve multiple engineers across multiple quarters.
Experience building cloud-based web applications, ideally on both the front- and back-end.
Experience leading teams through technically complex, long-running platform or infrastructure projects — such as large-scale refactors, backend migrations, or re-architecting core systems — where correctness, performance, and scalability matter more than speed of feature delivery.
Grown high-trajectory, early-to-mid-career engineers into leaders with company-wide impact.
Experience (and enjoy!) working directly with customers to inform your team's roadmap.
A track record of working with cross-functional partners in product, design, sales, and marketing.
Comfort with and enthusiasm for hands-on technical leadership: you should be excited to write and review code, and view reviewing your engineers' code as an essential part of the job.
Interest in and ability to develop AI-powered product features, including integrating LLMs and AI capabilities into scientific software workflows.
A track record of working with cross-functional partners in product, design, sales, and marketing.
Familiarity with software engineering management productivity tools (e.g., Jira or other bug database), as well as observability tools for logging, metrics, and alerting.
Interest in / curiosity about biotech! Prior experience with biotech, pharmaceutical, or other life sciences business sectors or education is not required, but is absolutely a plus.

We are seeking a motivated and results-driven Enterprise Account Executive to join our team (please note this position is based in London, UK). Benchling is hiring an Engineering Manager to lead a team within Infrastructure Engineering. This is a highly technical leadership role for someone with hands-on experience building modern cloud infrastructure and services platforms, paired with strong people leadership. You’ll work closely across Infrastructure and Platform. You'll be partnering with product engineering teams and other leaders to improve reliability, scalability, security, and developer productivity in a regulated environment.
We’re specifically looking for a leader with a software engineering and infrastructure background, not just operations. Experience with incident management and managing SRE teams is a plus.
Lead and grow a team of infrastructure engineers including hiring, coaching, performance management, and career development across all levels of the team.
Own delivery and outcomes for critical infrastructure and services-platform initiatives including reliability, scalability, cost, security posture, and compliance-aligned engineering practices.
Drive reliability improvements using pragmatic SRE principles: service-level thinking (SLIs/SLOs), operational readiness, automation, and resiliency patterns.
Strengthen incident response: improve on-call health, incident processes, postmortems, and follow-up execution in collaboration with product engineering and platform teams.
Build and evolve cloud foundations on AWS, including network and compute patterns and Kubernetes-based services.

3+ years of people leadership experience including managing a team across a range of levels.
Strong technical depth with previous direct, hands-on experience in software engineering and infrastructure/platform engineering.
Production experience operating on AWS (e.g., EKS/ECS, RDS, VPC, EC2, S3) and building scalable internal platforms.
Strong experience with Kubernetes and services-platform patterns (e.g., service mesh such as Istio, ingress, service discovery, workload isolation).
Experience building or evolving observability and operational tooling (Datadog, FireHydrant, Sentry, or similar).
Ability to collaborate across teams and influence without authority; strong written and verbal communication.

Benchling is building a world-class Professional Services team to drive implementations for our rapidly expanding customer base. Implementation Managers work with our customers, from small Biotech startups to the largest BioPharmas in the world to develop a deep understanding of their R&D Processes, and roll out solutions that transform how their research teams work together.
To be successful in this role, you will leverage your scientific background, project management skills, and product expertise to drive successful implementations of the Benchling platform. You will work hand in hand with the research scientists at our customers, and teams throughout Benchling to implement our solutions, and ensure our customers are successful. Implementation Managers lead all aspects of customer rollouts from requirements analysis and solution design, to configurations, testing, training, and onboarding users onto the system.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: 5–8+ years of relevant legal experience, with meaningful in-house product counsel experience at a technology or SaaS company, or equivalent experience in complex technology transactions, IP licensing, or technology-focused commercial work at a firm or in-house. Experience advising on AI/ML products, data privacy, data licensing, or cloud platform issues is strongly preferred. Working knowledge of global data protection laws (such as GDPR) is a plus. Familiarity with the life sciences or biotech industry is also a plus.
J.D. from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing of at least one U.S. state bar (California preferred).

Benchling is building a world-class Customer Experience organization to drive the adoption of our platform across our rapidly growing customer base. The Technical Account Manager (TAM) plays a key role within the Optimization Services organization through directly supporting our customers as they leverage Benchling to transform how their research teams work together, post-go-live.

App Foundations owns the notebook, document editing, and the compliance and lifecycle workflows that sit at the core of how scientists work in Benchling. We're looking for a senior Product Designer to own design across two teams: Document Canvas, which covers the document editing experience scientists use to write and execute experimental work, and Enterprise Lifecycle, which covers the review, audit, and compliance surfaces built on top of it.
This is a broad role with meaningful autonomy. You'll set design direction, work closely with Product on priorities, and be the primary design voice for a set of surfaces that a large portion of Benchling's users interact with daily. That includes contributing to longer-horizon thinking and ideating on where AI can meaningfully improve how scientists write, review, and manage their work. Benchling’s Optimization Services team is adding a new Team Lead to support our growing post-implementation business. The Model Hub team is building a computational platform that provides access to cutting-edge scientific AI models to help scientists design better drugs. Scientific models (e.g. AlphaFold or Boltz2) predict structures, predict scientific properties, and generate new drug designs, acting as a design partner and a major time saver to scientists who are creating life-saving therapeutics.

We are seeking a motivated and results-driven Strategic Account Executive to join our team (please note this position is based in London). In this role, you will be responsible for driving new business within your Benelux territory, focusing on building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders across various personas within an account. Proven experience as an Account Executive, preferably within a data management, workflow SaaS or technology-driven environment that sells to multiple personas across IT & Line of business.
Demonstrated ability to drive pipeline generation and manage complex sales cycles.
Strong sales forecasting skills with a track record of meeting or exceeding targets.
Demonstrated success in selling products or solutions that typically fall outside of pre-established budgets, with a proven ability to build a compelling business case and influence purchasing decisions.
Experience working with diverse personas within an account (from technical decision makers, business decision makers & CxO execs), with the ability to influence decision-making at all the levels.
Dynamic communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Self-motivated, with a strong drive to achieve and exceed goals.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
Familiarity with MEDDICC sales methodology is a plus but not required.
Knowledge of the life sciences industry, including: R&D, and/or IT functions is preferred but not required.
Bachelor’s degree - life sciences major is preferred but not required.

Benchling takes a market-based approach to pay. The candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, interview performance, and work location.
