GovWell is hiring AI Product Engineers to grow our AI product line beyond AutoCheck and the AI Community Assistant. You'll work across both existing products — closing reliability gaps and expanding their coverage — while helping define what AI-powered government software looks like next. We believe the next generation of government software should do neither. It should make extraordinarily complex workflows feel simple, intuitive, and even delightful.
GovWell is hiring a Founding Product Designer to define what that future looks like.
You’ll be our first design leader and will build the Design function from the ground up. You’ll establish the principles, systems, and standards that shape every GovWell product—while remaining deeply hands-on in the work. You’ll redesign the look and feel of our core platform, help us create AI experiences that feel integral rather than bolted on, and give engineers the tools to build polished, consistent products without design becoming a bottleneck.
This is not a role for someone who wants to inherit a mature team or spend most of their time reviewing other people’s work. GovWell is hiring Forward Deployed Software Engineers to sit inside our most complex enterprise deals — the ones where a county's 20-year-old permitting system, a workflow no vendor has handled before, or a migration off legacy systems is standing between a signed contract and a working deployment.
This role exists because our biggest municipalities don't fit a template. You'll go on-site, diagnose what's actually blocking the launch, build the targeted fix when one is needed, and then decide what part of that fix should become a permanent, reusable piece of the platform rather than a one-off. Get this right and you turn a complex deal into a referenceable customer. Get it wrong and you either miss the deal or bury the core product in bespoke debt.

5+ years of experience as a full-stack or forward deployed engineer in a production SaaS environment.

When a city switches to GovWell, one thing has to go right before anything else can: their data. A decade of permits, parcels, inspections, and license records — often living in a 2009 Access database, a folder of CSVs, or a legacy system with no documentation — has to land in GovWell accurately. If it doesn't, our relationship with a new client is off to a bumpy start.
As a Data Solutions Engineer, you own that moment. You'll take whatever a city hands you — messy exports, inconsistent codes, half-mapped schemas, geospatial data of questionable quality — and turn it into clean, trusted production data. That means writing SQL/Python that finds the edge cases before they find you, leading calls with non-technical government staff, and making judgment calls on messy data that you'd stake the launch on.
You'll report directly to our Head of Data Solutions & Geospatial Products, Max Payson, and work across Deployment, Product and Engineering - with real influence over how GovWell's onboarding process matures as we scale.

Own data migrations end-to-end. Work directly with government staff to understand their source systems, configure schema mappings and ingestion settings, run validations and dry-runs, and ensure accurate, complete data lands in GovWell.
Be the gatekeeper for data quality. Identify gaps, inconsistencies, and edge cases in legacy data before they become production problems. Make documented judgment calls within defined constraints — and prevent bad or unsafe data from ever reaching production.
Be the technical face of onboarding. Lead customer calls, clearly explain data requirements and tradeoffs, and guide agency staff through the transition from legacy systems to GovWell with calm confidence.
Make the process better as you run it. Use internal tools, templates, and playbooks to reduce time-to-launch and minimize manual work. Help build toward a future where migrations are predictable, repeatable, and fast.
Close the feedback loop with Product and Engineering. Document recurring issues, unmet assumptions, and tooling gaps encountered during migrations — helping the platform evolve based on what you see in the field.
Required
2-4 years of hands-on experience in data migrations, ETL/ELT, technical implementations, or a closely related role working with messy, real-world production data.
Demonstrated ability to work directly in a Python codebase day-to-day (reading, debugging, and shipping changes via PRs) — ideally in a data/pipeline repo (e.g., Airflow DAGs, ingestion jobs, migration utilities).
Strong SQL proficiency used in practice for analysis, validation, reconciliation, and transformation work.
Experience translating ambiguous stakeholder requirements into concrete, testable migration/implementation plans (what we’re importing, what we’re not, and why).
Track record of operating in execution-heavy environments with high ownership and high attention to correctness (where mistakes create customer-facing trust issues).
Preferred
Experience with workflow orchestration and pipeline operations (Airflow, Dagster, Prefect, etc.), including interpreting logs, safe reruns, and handling large backfills/imports.

GovWell is hiring an Account Executive to help scale our go-to-market motion with local governments across the United States. This role is responsible for owning full-cycle sales opportunities, building strong relationships with city and county leaders, and consistently closing high-impact deals.
This position is open to NYC-based candidates who can work 3+ days a week in person from our HQ in Manhattan. We have a primarily in-person culture and value being together in office for a substantial period each week, although the exact days and hours are flexible. This role requires travel up to 25%.
Own the full sales cycle for cities and counties across the U.S., from initial discovery through close.
Close new logo deals that are $20-250K ACV through complex multi-stakeholder sales processes of 2-3 months.
Run effective discovery conversations to understand government workflows, constraints, and decision-making processes.
Lead product demonstrations and manage multi-stakeholder buying processes typical of public-sector sales.
Travel as needed to meet late-stage prospects and represent GovWell at industry conferences and events.
Contribute to improving sales messaging, process, and execution through iteration and feedback from the field.
Partner closely with leadership, product, and customer teams to deliver a strong end-to-end customer experience.
This role will not be responsible for sourcing their own leads.
At least 2 years of experience closing complex software deals.

Help define what native mobile craft looks like at GovWell — this is a young product, and the standard you set now is the standard the product grows into.
Shape what's next as mobile matures: new workflows, new capabilities, and how the staff and citizen experiences evolve relative to each other.

3-5+ years of full-stack development experience building applications for enterprises and/or consumers. Strong preference for candidates who have worked in high-growth startup environments.
