We believe the fastest way to reach AGI lies in accelerating software development itself, by reshaping the developer experience with agentic systems, coding assistants, and the open-weight frontier models that power them.\n\n\n\n\nABOUT OUR TEAM\n\nWe were founded in the US and have our home there, but our team is distributed across Europe and North America. We get our fix of in-person collaboration (and croissants) in Paris each month for 3 days, always Monday-Wednesday, with an open invitation to stay the whole week. We also do longer off-sites once a year.\n\n\n\nOur team is a multidisciplinary blend of research, engineering, and business experts. What unites us is our deep care for what we build together. We're in a race that requires hard work, intellectual curiosity, and obsession; to balance this intensity, we've assembled a team of low ego and kind-hearted individuals who have built the special culture Poolside has. By building collaboratively and with intention, we create a compounding effect that moves the entire company forward towards our mission: reaching AGI through intelligence systems built for software development.\n\n\n\n\nABOUT THE ROLE\n\nYou'll build a new team from the ground up, owning multimodality at Poolside: teaching our frontier coding model to see. Multimodality is becoming increasingly important in frontier models, and this is a chance to shape this capability in Poolside’s models from an early stage. To deliver it, you'll draw on our powerful model factory, thousands of GPUs, and our strong research team.\n\nThe near-term focus is image input — the capability most useful to SWE and general agents — reading a design and speccing it out, writing and verifying the code that makes that design real, understanding the plots and diagrams in a paper. You'll set the technical direction, starting with pragmatic adapter-based approaches and evolving toward native multimodality over time. You'll partner closely with across teams inside Applied Research, and work in a newly-formed team alongside one of our talented founding engineers to bootstrap our multimodality efforts.\n\n\n\nYOUR MISSION\n\nTo bring multimodality to Poolside's models, starting with image input and building toward native multimodal understanding.\n\n\n\n\nRESPONSIBILITIES\n\n - Own Poolside's multimodality direction and capability adoption\n\n - Ship our first image-input capabilities\n\n - Chart and drive the path from adapter-based to native multimodality\n\n - Collaborate on custom evaluations and datasets for multimodal SWE capabilities\n\n - Run experiments end to end: hypothesis, implementation, training at scale, analysis\n\n - Partner with evals, architecture, data, and post-training teams to land multimodality in Poolside models\n \n\n\nSKILLS & EXPERIENCE\n\n - Experience in end-to-end training of production-grade VLMs\n\n - Strong LLM training fundamentals: transformers and distributed training at scale\n\n - Strong Python programming skills\n\n - Pragmatic and high-ownership: you reach for the simplest thing that works and thrive in greenfield ambiguity\n\nNice to have:\n\n - Leadership and 0-1 experience, especially with substantial breadth, ownership, and hands-on contributions\n\n - Distinguished research background on VLMs or multimodal models\n\n - Understanding of the challenges of native multimodality\n\n - Experience building agentic computer use systems\n\n\n\n\nPROCESS\n\n - Intro call with one of our Co-Heads of Applied Research\n\n - Technical Interviews with Founding Engineers and Members of Engineering\n\n - Team fit call with the People team\n\n - Final interview with our Co-CEO and Co-Founder, Eiso\n \n \n\n\nBENEFITS\n\n - Fully remote work & flexible hours\n\n - 37 days/year of vacation & holidays\n\n - Health insurance allowance for you & dependents\n\n - 16 weeks of flexible, full-pay parental leave\n\n - Well-being, always-be-learning & home office allowances\n\n - Company-provided equipment\n\n - Frequent team get togethers\n\n - Diverse & inclusive people-first culture","compensation":{"compensationTierSummary":null,"scrapeableCompensationSalarySummary":null,"compensationTiers":[],"summaryComponents":[]}},{"id":"df54a608-9fd9-4c09-aad1-7de71a0d487e","title":"Member of Engineering (Evaluations / Engineering)","department":"Applied Research","team":"Applied Research","employmentType":"FullTime","location":"Remote (EMEA/East Coast)","shouldDisplayCompensationOnJobPostings":false,"secondaryLocations":[],"publishedAt":"2026-04-17T14:53:01.622+00:00","isListed":true,"isRemote":true,"workplaceType":"Remote","address":{"postalAddress":{"addressCountry":"United Kingdom"}},"jobUrl":"https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/poolside/df54a608-9fd9-4c09-aad1-7de71a0d487e","applyUrl":"https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/poolside/df54a608-9fd9-4c09-aad1-7de71a0d487e/application","descriptionHtml":"
ABOUT POOLSIDE

In this decade, the world will create Artificial General Intelligence. There will only be a small number of companies who will achieve this. Their ability to stack advantages and pull ahead will define the winners. These companies will move faster than anyone else. They will attract the world's most capable talent. They will be on the forefront of applied research, engineering, infrastructure and deployment at scale. They will continue to scale their training to larger & more capable models. They will be given the right to raise large amounts of capital along their journey to enable this. They will create powerful economic engines. They will obsess over the success of their users and customers.\n\n\n\nPoolside exists to be this company: to build a world where AI will be the engine behind economically valuable work and scientific progress. We believe the fastest way to reach AGI lies in accelerating software development itself, by reshaping the developer experience with agentic systems, coding assistants, and the frontier models that power them. We deploy these systems directly into the development environments of security-conscious enterprises.\n\n\n\n\nABOUT OUR TEAM\n\nWe were founded in the US and have our home there, but our team is distributed across Europe and North America. We’re in a race that requires hard work, intellectual curiosity, and obsession; to balance this intensity, we’ve assembled a team of low ego and kind-hearted individuals who have built the special culture Poolside has. By building collaboratively and with intention, we create a compounding effect that moves the entire company forward towards our mission: reaching AGI through intelligence systems built for software development.\n\n\n\n\nABOUT THE ROLE\n\nThis is a role for someone who wants to define what gets built, not just how it looks. You'll own product vision in 0-to-1 spaces, working at the frontier of what Poolside should build next, translating ambiguous problems into clear product direction, and prototyping fast to validate ideas before they become roadmap. You'll work closely with engineering and leadership, partnering tightly with our product design team to shape experiences that sit at the intersection of frontier AI and developer tooling.\n\nThe problems here are genuinely hard and the surface area is wide. One day you're digging deep to understand how developers experience a new agentic workflow; the next you're building a proof-of-concept that changes the direction of a product. Your taste and judgment will be visible in what ships.\n\n\n\nYOUR MISSION\n\nTo forge the product direction for Poolside's developer experience, defining what we build at the frontier of AI and software development.\n\n\n\n\nRESPONSIBILITIES\n\n - Own product vision in 0-to-1 spaces, defining what Poolside should build and translating ambiguous problems into clear, buildable direction.\n\n - Lead design, experimentation, and proof-of-concepts that explore what's next for developer tools, feeding insight back into the product roadmap.\n\n - Partner with Product Engineering to move ideas from concept to shipped product, working at both the strategic and the granular level.\n\n - Prototype rapidly and validate early; you're as comfortable in code as you are in a design tool.\n\n - Collaborate with designers and the wider design team to ensure product thinking is consistent and well-resourced across Poolside's surfaces.\n\n - Shape how Poolside shows up externally as a product, including how developers first encounter our work.\n\n\n\n\nSKILLS & EXPERIENCE\n\n - Strong product intuition with a history of defining what to build, not just how to build it. You've forged direction, not just executed on it.\n\n - A genuine history of building with code: scripts, tools, personal projects shipped from scratch. You can speak concretely to what you built and why.\n\n - Genuine familiarity with developer workflows. Version control, local environments, the command line, deployment pipelines. Not as a curiosity, but as your natural habitat.\n\n - Deep experience designing for developer tools specifically, not general consumer or enterprise products.\n\n - Strong visual craft. You produce polished, high-quality UI and can hold a high bar across the full product experience.\n\n - Comfortable with rapid prototyping, research, and proof-of-concepts. You move fast and validate early.\n\n - Highly autonomous: you set your own direction, bring others along on your thinking, and make good decisions in ambiguity.\n\n\n\n\nPROCESS\n\n - Intro call with one of our Designers\n\n - Design interview with a Design Engineer (Product). Come with 1–2 projects you forged, not just executed\n\n - Technical interview with a Product Engineer. Expect questions on how you build and think about developer workflows\n\n - Team fit call with the People team\n\n - Final interview\n\n\n\n\nBENEFITS\n\n - Fully remote work & flexible hours\n\n - 37 days/year of vacation & holidays\n\n - Health insurance allowance for you & dependents\n\n - 16 weeks of flexible, full-pay parental leave\n\n - Well-being, always-be-learning & home office allowances\n\n - Company-provided equipment\n\n - Frequent team get togethers\n\n - Diverse & inclusive people-first culture","compensation":{"compensationTierSummary":null,"scrapeableCompensationSalarySummary":null,"compensationTiers":[],"summaryComponents":[]}},{"id":"9483625e-fa67-4c29-9150-e374f6cb4cdb","title":"Events Lead","department":"Marketing","team":"Marketing","employmentType":"FullTime","location":"Remote (US)","shouldDisplayCompensationOnJobPostings":false,"secondaryLocations":[],"publishedAt":"2026-06-30T10:46:09.086+00:00","isListed":true,"isRemote":true,"workplaceType":"Remote","address":{"postalAddress":{"addressCountry":"United States"}},"jobUrl":"https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/poolside/9483625e-fa67-4c29-9150-e374f6cb4cdb","applyUrl":"https://jobs.ashbyhq.com/poolside/9483625e-fa67-4c29-9150-e374f6cb4cdb/application","descriptionHtml":"
ABOUT POOLSIDE

In this decade, the world will create artificial intelligence that reaches human level intelligence (and beyond) by combining learning and search. There will only be a small number of companies who will achieve this. Their ability to stack advantages and pull ahead will determine who survives and wins. These companies will move faster than anyone else. They will attract the world's most capable talent. They will be on the forefront of applied research and engineering at scale. They will create powerful economic engines. They will continue to scale their training to larger & more capable models. They will be given the right to raise large amounts of capital along their journey to enable this.\n\npoolside exists to be one of these companies - to build a world where AI will drive the majority of economically valuable work and scientific progress.\n\nWe believe that software development will be the first major capability in neural networks that reaches human-level intelligence because it's the domain where we can combine Search and Learning approaches the best.\n\nAt poolside we believe our applied research needs to culminate in products that are put in the hands of people. Today we focus on building for a developer-led increasingly AI-assisted world. We believe that current capabilities of AI lead to incredible tooling that can assist developers in their day to day work. We also believe that as we increase the capabilities of our models, we increasingly empower anyone in the world to be able to build software. We envision a future where not 100 million people can build software but 2 billion people can.\n\nView GDPR Policy https://poolside.ai/gdpr\n\n\n\n\nABOUT OUR TEAM\n\nWe are a remote-first team that sits across Europe and North America and comes together once a month in-person for 3 days and for longer offsites twice a year.\n\nOur R&D and production teams are a combination of more research and more engineering-oriented profiles, however, everyone deeply cares about the quality of the systems we build and has a strong underlying knowledge of software development. We believe that good engineering leads to faster development iterations, which allows us to compound our efforts.\n\n\n\n\nABOUT THE ROLE\n\nYou'll sit at the intersection of Poolside's research, infrastructure, and agent teams, building a greenfield platform that democratises how every frontier model gets built.
