The Job:
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled iOS Engineer to partner with our Lead iOS Engineer in building and maintaining the primary mobile application for operating and monitoring Seneca's autonomous drone systems. This is a mission-critical role where your work directly translates our backend robotics, perception, and controls technology into a reliable, intuitive, and performance-driven user experience for frontline fire professionals.
You will be responsible for implementing core features, ensuring application stability in resource-constrained environments, and working closely with our embedded, perception, and controls teams to translate complex systems-level data into actionable information for our users.
What You’ll Do:
Feature Development & Partnership: Implement core application features across the full development lifecycle, working closely with the Lead iOS Engineer to drive technical architecture and product roadmap.
Mission-Critical UI/UX: Design and build intuitive and reliable user interfaces for commanding drone missions (e.g., flight path planning), monitoring real-time telemetry (e.g., drone status, battery life, control parameters), and viewing live perception data.
Data Translation & Visualization: Develop robust code to ingest, process, and visually represent complex data streams from the autonomous stack (e.g., sensor fusion outputs, path planning maps, real-time fire detection, and control system diagnostics).
Connectivity & Reliability: Implement resilient networking and data synchronization protocols to maintain reliable communication with ground control stations and cloud services, often under limited or intermittent bandwidth conditions (a key factor in remote fire environments).
System Integration: Collaborate cross-functionally with Perception Engineers and Controls Engineers to define and implement necessary API endpoints and data models for effective mobile-robot communication.
Testing & Deployment: Write unit and UI tests, manage CI/CD pipelines, and ensure application quality, performance, and stability across various iOS devices for field deployment.
What You Bring:
5+ years of professional experience in native iOS application development.
Expert proficiency in Swift and deep familiarity with the iOS SDK and core frameworks (e.g., UIKit, Combine/RxSwift, Core Data/Realm). SwiftUI experience is a plus.
Demonstrated experience with robust networking, including asynchronous programming and handling data from low-bandwidth, high-latency environments.
Solid understanding of object-oriented design principles, software architecture patterns (e.g., MVC, MVVM, VIPER), and practical software engineering practices.
Experience with Git and standard development workflows (code reviews, branching strategies).
Excellent problem-solving skills and a high level of ownership in a fast-paced, ambiguous (startup) environment.
Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate technical decisions to both software and non-software engineers (e.g., robotics specialists).

As a key partner to leadership and an early builder of our People function, you will have meaningful ownership and the opportunity to uplevel how we attract, hire, onboard, and support talent across the company.\n\n\n\n\nWHAT YOU’LL DO:\n\nRecruiting & Hiring Coordination:\n\n - Manage and coordinate full-cycle recruiting for a variety of roles, including job postings, candidate sourcing, interview scheduling, and candidate communications.\n\n - Partner closely with hiring managers to define role requirements, interview plans, and hiring timelines.\n\n - Ensure a thoughtful, inclusive, and high-quality candidate experience from first touch through offer acceptance.\n\nOnboarding & Employee Lifecycle Support:\n\n - Own and continuously improve the onboarding process to ensure new hires are set up for success from day one.\n\n - Coordinate new hire logistics, documentation, systems access, and orientation.\n\n - Support key employee lifecycle moments such as role changes, promotions, and offboarding.\n\nPeople Operations & Process Building:\n\n - Help build, document, and scale core People Ops processes, policies, and programs as the company grows.\n\n - Maintain accurate employee records and ensure data integrity across HR systems.\n\n - Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, clarity, and employee experience through better tools and workflows.\n\nLegal, Compliance & HR Administration:\n\n - Assist with employment-related compliance tasks, including offer letters, employment agreements, and required documentation.\n\n - Support compliance with applicable labor laws, regulations, and internal policies (e.g., I-9s, benefits administration support, contractor compliance).\n\n - Partner with external vendors (e.g., payroll, benefits, legal) as needed.\n\nCulture & Employee Experience:\n\n - Help foster a positive and high-performing culture by supporting people programs and internal initiatives.\n\n - Serve as a trusted point of contact for employee questions related to HR and Operations processes and policies.\n\n - Support internal communications related to people programs, benefits, IT, compliance and company updates.\n\n\n\n\nWHAT YOU BRING:\n\n - 3–5 years of experience in recruiting, people operations, HR, or a related role, ideally within a startup or fast-growing company.\n\n - Hands-on experience coordinating hiring processes and working directly with hiring managers.\n\n - Strong understanding of core HR operations, best practices, and basic employment compliance.\n\n - Generalist mindset and willingness to research and dive into any operational domain.\n\n - Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.\n\n - Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a high degree of professionalism and empathy.\n\n - Comfort operating in ambiguity and building processes where none previously existed.\n\n - High level of ownership, reliability, and discretion when handling sensitive information.\n\n - Familiarity with HRIS, ATS, and people tools (e.g., Rippling, Ashby, Ramp, or similar), as well as project management tools (e.g. Asana, Jira, or similar) is a plus.\n\n\nBONUS POINTS FOR:\n\n - Experience scaling recruiting, HR, or operations in an early-stage or high-growth startup.\n\n - Exposure to multi-state, international, or more complex hiring and compliance.\n\n - Experience improving or implementing HR, Legal/Compliance, or related Operations systems and tools.\n \n \n\n\nWHAT WE OFFER:\n\n - Competitive Salary – Reflective of your skills and experience\n\n - Equity Compensation – Be a part-owner in the company’s future\n\n - Comprehensive Health Coverage – Medical, dental, and vision plans\n\n - Health Savings Account (HSA) – Optional pre-tax savings for medical expenses\n\n - Unlimited PTO – Flexible time off to recharge, plus paid company holidays\n\n\nAbout Us\nSeneca is eliminating the $1 trillion threat of wildfire across 500 million acres with AI-powered autonomous drone systems.
