The fix in front of you is half the job. Building the thing that means nobody fixes it again is the other half. You think in leverage. This is the signal that matters most.\n\n - You're fluent with AI agents and prompts. You've built or debugged LLM workflows and know how they break: prompts, knowledge bases, intent classification, retrieval, and the gap between what passes in test and what runs live. You can read a prompt, spot why it misfires, and rewrite it. No black boxes.\n\n - You read and reason through code. You're comfortable in our core stack — Node.js, TypeScript, React, Express — or close enough to ramp fast. You can trace customer-side JavaScript in the browser, write diagnostic SQL against PostgreSQL, and navigate a backend service without waiting on someone else.\n\n - You use AI coding tools as leverage. Fluent with Claude Code or equivalent to script a query, clean a dataset, or navigate a new codebase fast. Judgment about when to automate, not syntax recall.\n\n - You own problems nobody assigned you. You've worked where the process didn't exist yet, found something broken, and driven it to a fix.\n\n - You make people around you better. You leave teammates more capable through docs, tools, and walkthroughs.\n\n - Nice to have: observability tooling (Grafana, Honeycomb, Sentry); internal tooling that turned manual work into a system. Ecommerce or DTC exposure is a plus, not a requirement.\n\n\n\n\nWHAT YOU'LL DO\n\n - Own the hard problems end to end. Trace, reproduce, fix, or hand engineering a clean reproduction. Range across APIs and integrations, customer-side JavaScript, agent behaviour, and data. Get on the call when that's the fastest path.\n\n - Debug the agents and the prompts. Diagnose whether a wrong answer or misfire is prompt, knowledge base, config, or model, then fix the prompt or setup so it holds under real traffic.\n\n - Build so it doesn't happen twice. For every fix, two questions you own: can the team handle this next time with a runbook or tool, and what do we build so the system catches the next one. This half compounds.\n\n - Close the loop to Product. You're the structured, metrics-backed signal between what customers hit in the wild and what we build next. Surface patterns, not one-offs. Make the product measurably better.\n\n - Raise the team's floor. Lift what the whole team can resolve instead of being the only one who can.\n\n - Know where your scope ends. Escalate genuine product bugs, infra, and outages with a clean reproduction, not a shrug.\n\n\n\n\nWHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE\n\nThe point of this role isn't closing tickets faster. It's that the product visibly gets better because you've killed the root cause of recurring problems. Resolution is the floor. Product quality is the win.\n\n - By 90 days: you've named the top recurring failure patterns and you're attacking them at the root, not patching symptoms. At least one class of problem is fixed in the product itself, not just resolved ticket by ticket, so it stops showing up at all. Resolution is handled without pulling engineers off the roadmap, but the real signal is fewer problems existing in the first place.\n\n - By 6 months: recurring issue classes are measurably down because the root causes are gone, the product is demonstrably more robust, and your feedback loop to Product is shipping real improvements. The team resolves more on its own because the system catches the next one, not heroics.\n\n\n\n\nWHY SIENA?\n\n - Real ownership. You will own problems, not tasks, with the autonomy to solve them your way and the trust to do it without a manager in your inbox.\n\n - Work that ships and matters. What you build reaches real consumer brands fast.\n\n - A category we are creating. The Agent of Record is new ground, with unsolved problems and cutting-edge models, not a crowded field to compete in.\n\n - A team that respects your judgment. Globally distributed, async-first, low bureaucracy. We hire adults and treat you like one.\n\n - Great salary plus equity or stock grants. Own a piece of what you build.\n\n - Learning budget. If you are growing, so are we.\n\n - AI-fluency by default. Few places will push your work with production AI further or faster.\n\n\nOUR VALUES\n\nThe people who thrive here are curious, customer-obsessed, and take ownership without being asked. They fix problems first and explain later. They're direct about feedback—both giving and receiving it—because they care more about getting things right than being polite. \n\nThey maintain high standards while moving at startup speed, and they build real relationships with teammates because they know that's how great work gets done. When things get tough, they adapt and keep pushing forward.\n\n\n\nOUR APPROACH TO AI\n\nThe people who thrive here treat AI like a natural extension of themselves. They've built their own ecosystem of agents - some for research, others for debugging, writing, analysis, or writing code. They know which AI works best for what problem.\n\nEveryone gets premium accounts (ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity Pro, Cursor, Lovable) plus a quarterly budget for new tools. But the magic happens in how we share knowledge. Demo days where someone shows off a clever workflows. Slack threads about which model handles a specific use case better. Learning from each other's AI workflows.\n\nAt Siena, we’re not just looking for people who can do a job. This is the context that takes years to build and that we can't afford to teach from scratch\n\n - A natural project manager - you break complex problems into simple plans, keep multiple workstreams on track, and keep every stakeholder aligned without burning out\n\n - SaaS or e-commerce background is a bonus; CX operations depth is the primary signal\n\n - You communicate clearly under pressure: written updates, verbal briefings, Slack threads - you make the status of every account visible without anyone having to ask\n\n - You're proactive with data: you watch automation rate, deflection, and escalation patterns, catch the dip before the customer flags it, and bring evidence when something needs attention - not gut feel.\n\n - AI fluency - you use AI tools actively in your workflow and can enable and guide, confidently customers who are new to the space\n\n - You co-lead - you're not here to own everything solo, you're here to share the load with a team and make the whole function stronger\n\n - Remote \n\nWhat you'll do\n\n - Own deployments from zero to live - kick-off, automation setup, stakeholder alignment, and hitting the metrics that matter\n\n - Co-lead strategic accounts with senior team members, taking on responsibility progressively as you ramp\n\n - Apply your CX ops knowledge to diagnose why accounts are stuck: helpdesk configuration, ticket routing gaps, automation logic, escalation failures - and drive the fix\n\n - Keep every account you touch moving: daily updates, proactive escalations, clear documentation of progress and blockers\n\n - Manage customer expectations with confidence: hold timelines, push back when scope creeps, and keep relationships intact when things get hard\n\n - Shadow and support senior team members for the first 30 days, then take the lead on accounts\n\n - Feed operational patterns back to the product team: you see problems across accounts before anyone else does\n\n\nWHY SIENA?\n\n - Real ownership. We’re looking for people who want to break boundaries, create the future, and reshape industries. If that’s you, we look forward to your application.\n\nWe use AI-assisted screening tools as part of our hiring process. All decisions are made by humans. We have built leverage into how we work, which is what lets a team this size move at the speed we do.\n\nWe hire athletes. Everyone here owns real outcomes, defaults to writing over meetings, communicates with directness, and acts the moment they see something worth acting on. Low ego, high standards, fast clock.\n\nIf you want to set the bar rather than follow one, keep reading.\n\n\nABOUT THE ROLE\n\nAs a Senior Full Stack Engineer, you will own meaningful parts of the platform end to end. You will take ambiguous problems, work out the right approach, and ship reliable, high-performance systems that real brands depend on every day.\n\nYou will work closely with product to shape scope and roadmap, make real architectural decisions within your area, and do your best work without being managed task by task. \n\nThis role is for engineers who want ownership and can carry it.\n\n\n\nWHAT YOU'LL DO\n\n - Own features and systems across the full stack, frontend, backend, and infrastructure, from problem definition through production.\n\n - Partner with product to break down ambiguous scope and ship in iterative, high-impact releases.\n\n - Make real architectural and design decisions in your area, and explain the reasoning so the team can build on it.\n\n - Take cutting-edge language models into enterprise customer workflows, where reliability and safety actually matter.\n\n - Solve hard engineering problems: API performance, microservices, scaling across channels and brands.\n\n - Maintain and improve our AWS infrastructure with a DevOps mindset.\n\n - Raise the bar around you. Share what you know, review thoughtfully, and help teammates level up.\n\n\nWHO YOU ARE\n\n - 5+ years of software engineering, with real ownership of systems you have shipped and run in production.\n\n - Strong full-stack engineer in our core stack: Node.js, React, TypeScript, Express.\n\n - Solid with AWS (Fargate, Lambda, EC2, SQS) and with PostgreSQL and Redis.\n\n - Comfortable with CI/CD pipelines (CodePipeline, GitHub Actions, or similar).\n\n - Experienced with microservices and scalable systems.\n\n - Product-focused. You think past the code to customer outcomes and business impact.\n\n - You have shipped LLM-powered features to production. This is a must, not a bonus. You know what breaks when models meet real users.\n\n - High-ownership and direct. You take initiative, fix problems without waiting to be told, and say openly when something is not working.\n\n\nBONUS POINTS\n\n - Next.js.\n\n - Infrastructure as Code (CDK, Terraform).\n\n - Python.\n\n - Event-driven architecture.\n\n - Background in customer support or CX software.\n\n\nWHY SIENA?\n\n - Real ownership. That context is bottlenecked in one person - and that's a problem we're close to feeling. We're scaling fast: Order Protection, Social Agent, Voice, and Shopping Agent are all spinning up in parallel. The team is distributed remotely across different timezones, making working hours and proper oversight hard to properly meet.

This role exists to close that gap. We need someone who owns engineering execution day-to-day - taking roughly 30% of what our Engineering Manager currently holds - so they can focus on strategy, customers, fundraising, and what's next.

This isn't a coordinator role. You run 1:1s, keep cycle cadence honest, write technical debt plans alongside engineers, unblock people before it becomes an escalation, and act as a genuine thought partner on the operational side. Scope changes and anything that reshapes the team are joint calls. Everything else is yours.

What you'll do

Delivery (≈50% of your time): Own the weekly cadence for Channels and Analytics. Our Engineering Leadership is out of the loop on day-to-day - but always knows what's happening. Work with PMs and engineering leadership to surface and sequence priorities - including the ones nobody has written down yet. Help organise backlogs and bring structure to teams operating in a fast-moving, low-process environment. Unblock engineers proactively. Identify the constraint before it becomes an escalation. Write and maintain technical debt plans with engineers, not for them. Act as a second thinker on integration strategy and capacity planning.

Developer experience (≈25%): Improve the things that slow good engineers down. You don't need permission to start. Bring structure where it adds speed, and resist adding process for its own sake.

People development (≈25%): Run 1:1s that leave engineers with clearer thinking, not just status logged. Deliver hard feedback directly. Have it land, not bruise. Help develop senior engineers who want to grow - including coaching engineers who have ambitions toward management. Act as a backup hiring partner: help run loops, hold the bar, partner with recruiting.

What you'll bring

3+ years managing engineers in a product-delivery capacity — you've owned outcomes, not just people

Based in a European timezone (UTC to UTC+3) — this role exists specifically to be close to engineers our Engineering Manager can't reach from their timezone

Startup or scale-up experience: you know what it feels like when there's no process and no safety net

Technical credibility - not the best engineer in the room, but credible enough that senior engineers route hard problems to you, not around you

Genuine AI/LLM fluency: you understand agentic systems, evals, and model reliability -` not just that \"AI is changing everything\"

Experience with security, compliance, or SOC-adjacent work

Worked in a product company without a dedicated TPM or staff engineer as a crutch

Experience managing senior engineers who don't need managing in the traditional sense - they need a thought partner, not a process owner

What we're not looking for

Someone who needs a fully defined process to operate

Someone who comes in wanting to redesign the org or introduce career ladders before shipping anything

Someone whose answer to \"what did your team ship?\" is \"that was a PM call\"

Someone whose primary achievement track is headcount growth, org structures, or reporting lines

Someone pitching a VP trajectory or dotted-line authority on day one

What success looks like

Day 30: You've run two 1:1 cycles with each engineer on the team. You own the Channels and Analytics weekly cadence - our engineering leadership is out of the loop, but understands what's happening. You've read the last quarter of Linear, mapped the codebase shape, and met every integration owner..

Day 60: One concrete unblock in Channels that wouldn't have happened without you owning the planning side - even if that means surfacing refactoring potential. The security compliance work (Sprinto) is no longer single-threaded through one person: documented, distributed, or sequenced behind a milestone date. You've been to a customer meeting or shadowed the deployment team on issues to be tackled.

Day 90: A measurable delivery attributes to your planning, not your coding. Engineers proactively bring you problems they used to escalate upward - and team channels have broader engineering discussions, not just siloed problems. That's the trust signal. Our current Engineering Manager has recovered roughly one full day a week of management overhead. You work as a unit: they handle strategy, customers, and exec conversations; you handle execution, 1:1s, planning, and day-to-day unblocking. Hiring, scope changes, and anything that reshapes the team are joint calls.

Failure looks like: status reports flowing through you with no judgment added; engineers being polite but routing around you; our current Engineering Manager still running teams in practice while you sit elsewhere.

Why Siena?

Real ownership. You will own problems, not tasks, with the autonomy to solve them your way and the trust to do it without a manager in your inbox.

Work that ships and matters. What you build reaches real consumer brands fast.

A category we are creating. The Agent of Record is new ground, with unsolved problems and cutting-edge models, not a crowded field to compete in.

A team that respects your judgment. Globally distributed, async-first, low bureaucracy. We have built leverage into how we work, which is what lets a team this size move at the speed we do.\n\nWe hire athletes. Everyone here owns real outcomes, defaults to writing over meetings, communicates with directness, and acts the moment they see something worth acting on. Low ego, high standards, fast clock.\n\nIf you want to set the bar rather than follow one, keep reading.\n\n\nAbout the role\n\nOur current Engineering Manager holds the full picture across Channels, Analytics, Agents, and Integrations. That context is bottlenecked in one person - and that's a problem we're close to feeling. We're scaling fast: Order Protection, Social Agent, Voice, and Shopping Agent are all spinning up in parallel. The team is distributed remotely across different timezones, making working hours and proper oversight hard to properly meet.\n\nThis role exists to close that gap. We need someone who owns engineering execution day-to-day - taking roughly 30% of what our Engineering Manager currently holds - so they can focus on strategy, customers, fundraising, and what's next.\n\nThis isn't a coordinator role. You run 1:1s, keep cycle cadence honest, write technical debt plans alongside engineers, unblock people before it becomes an escalation, and act as a genuine thought partner on the operational side. Scope changes and anything that reshapes the team are joint calls. Everything else is yours.\n\n\nWhat you'll do\n\nDelivery (≈50% of your time): Own the weekly cadence for Channels and Analytics. Act as a second thinker on integration strategy and capacity planning.\n\nDeveloper experience (≈25%): Improve the things that slow good engineers down. You don't need permission to start. Bring structure where it adds speed, and resist adding process for its own sake.\n\nPeople development (≈25%): Run 1:1s that leave engineers with clearer thinking, not just status logged. Deliver hard feedback directly. Have it land, not bruise. Help develop senior engineers who want to grow - including coaching engineers who have ambitions toward management. Act as a backup hiring partner: help run loops, hold the bar, partner with recruiting.\n\n\nWhat you'll bring\n\n - 3+ years managing engineers in a product-delivery capacity — you've owned outcomes, not just people\n\n - Based in a European timezone (UTC to UTC+3) — this role exists specifically to be close to engineers our Engineering Manager can't reach from their timezone\n\n - Startup or scale-up experience: you know what it feels like when there's no process and no safety net\n\n - Technical credibility - not the best engineer in the room, but credible enough that senior engineers route hard problems to you, not around you\n\n - Genuine AI/LLM fluency: you understand agentic systems, evals, and model reliability -` not just that \"AI is changing everything\"\n\n - Experience with security, compliance, or SOC-adjacent work\n\n - Worked in a product company without a dedicated TPM or staff engineer as a crutch\n\n - Experience managing senior engineers who don't need managing in the traditional sense - they need a thought partner, not a process owner\n\nWhat we're not looking for\n\n - Someone who needs a fully defined process to operate\n\n - Someone who comes in wanting to redesign the org or introduce career ladders before shipping anything\n\n - Someone whose answer to \"what did your team ship?\" is \"that was a PM call\"\n\n - Someone whose primary achievement track is headcount growth, org structures, or reporting lines\n\n - Someone pitching a VP trajectory or dotted-line authority on day one\n\n\nWhat success looks like\n\nDay 30: You've run two 1:1 cycles with each engineer on the team. You own the Channels and Analytics weekly cadence - our engineering leadership is out of the loop, but understands what's happening. You've read the last quarter of Linear, mapped the codebase shape, and met every integration owner..\n\nDay 60: One concrete unblock in Channels that wouldn't have happened without you owning the planning side - even if that means surfacing refactoring potential. The security compliance work (Sprinto) is no longer single-threaded through one person: documented, distributed, or sequenced behind a milestone date. You've been to a customer meeting or shadowed the deployment team on issues to be tackled.\n\nDay 90: A measurable delivery attributes to your planning, not your coding. Hiring, scope changes, and anything that reshapes the team are joint calls.\n\nFailure looks like: status reports flowing through you with no judgment added; engineers being polite but routing around you; our current Engineering Manager still running teams in practice while you sit elsewhere.\n\n\nWHY SIENA?\n\n - Real ownership. If that’s you, we look forward to your application.\n\nWe use AI-assisted screening tools as part of our hiring process. All decisions are made by humans.
