Small contractors are great at their trade but lose 20+ hours a week to invoicing, permits, and paperwork. WorkHero has a team of expert office managers who run their back office, and their work is backed by automation and AI tooling that lets a small team do far more than they otherwise could. We launched in late 2024 and work with contractors across the country.

We're hiring a senior product manager to build the AI systems at the core of the product. It's a hard problem: getting an agent to reliably run a business's back office. It's also what determines how fast we grow, because the stronger these agents become, the more contractors each office manager can serve. This role is a key part of our company's next stage. You'd own that work alongside a small, senior team with deep experience in AI, product, and the trades.

About WorkHero

Tens of thousands of small HVAC contractors, who keep our homes comfortable and enable the climate transition, are drowning in administrative work. Legacy software is clunky, full-time admins are expensive, and owners spend 20+ hours per week on paperwork.

WorkHero changes that.

Our platform combines agentic AI with human-in-the-loop operations to autonomously handle back-office workflows like invoicing, permits, rebates, pricebooks, warranty registration and a whole lot more. Instead of asking contractors to learn new tools, our AI agents do the work, with expert office managers providing oversight and operational coaching.

The result: real work gets done autonomously, helping small contractors grow profitable, resilient businesses while accelerating heat pump adoption nationwide.

We've raised over $8M to date and are backed by Navitas Capital, Workshop Ventures, York IE, and strategic angels including a former ServiceTitan executive. Our advisors include Chad Laurans (Founder of SimpliSafe) and Gerald Chertavian (Founder of Year Up).

The Role

You'll be an early product hire working alongside our founding PM and co-founder. Where they hold strategy across the whole product, you go deep on the engine that does the work: our AI systems. You own the product question of whether each is genuinely accomplishing the user's goal, and how we know.

This is a senior individual-contributor role built around depth. You'll own one or two product verticals end to end, working close with engineering, service, sales, and the customer. You'll report to our founding PM, who holds product strategy and prioritization across the whole product. Within your area, you own the roadmap, the craft, and the results, and the closer you get to users, the more your work shapes where we go next.

We're looking for a high-craft PM who wants to be in the weeds on hard problems: shaping how an agent's prompt, tools, and knowledge cohere into one experience, holding a high bar on quality, and building the evals and instrumentation that show whether it works. Crucially, this is product work: you keep the user's goal at the center and treat evals as the instrument, not the job.

This is an AI-native role. You'll shape agentic systems, and you'll lean on AI heavily in your own work. If going deep while keeping the bigger picture in your head sounds like your kind of product work, keep reading.

What You'll Own

Own your workstream end to end. Own and evolve the roadmap for your product area: dependencies, delivery, and the calls to make when priorities shift. Take features from requirements through launch, documentation, and iteration, and keep a clear line of sight to whether they move adoption, retention, and revenue.

Turn ambiguity into product. Translate messy, ambiguous user needs into concrete AI behaviors, workflows, and requirements. Boil complex technical tradeoffs down into product decisions your team can act on.

Stay close to users. Spend real time with our Senior Office Managers and contractor customers. Run discovery that gets past the surface: ask \"why\" with empathy, listen hard, and let what you learn drive what you build.

Define with engineering. Own the use cases, specs, and tradeoffs for your area. You're in the weeds by preference, not throwing specs over the wall, and you bring real UX instincts for the unstructured, AI-driven workflows this product runs on.

Hold the bar. You have a clear sense of what good looks like, and you keep raising the quality bar in your area. QA here is a partnership with our product-minded engineers, not a gate you stand at, and you help the team ship work everyone's proud of without slowing work down.

Prove it's working. Define success metrics across customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and agent performance, and drive continuous improvement through data, user feedback, and experimentation. Build the measurement muscle we don't have yet: own the KPIs, stand up the evals and instrumentation, and feed what you learn into the next round.

Who We're Looking For

You have strong product management experience. You've owned products from strategy through launch, and you move easily between big-picture thinking and hands-on execution. You have real product judgment: you make the hard calls on priorities and tradeoffs, you know what to say no to, and you back your decisions with the right amount of data and research. You bring 4–6 years of product management experience.

You go deep while holding the big picture. You can live inside the details of a workstream and still hold the wider product and business in your head. You know which details matter and which don't.

You think in AI. You're curious and creative about what's newly possible, and happy to rethink a user experience from first principles rather than port over how it worked before. You understand LLMs well enough to reason about their limits and tradeoffs, and you can test an LLM pipeline in a structured way using no-code and prototyping tools.

You use AI as core infrastructure. It's woven through how you work: AI helps you get through discovery faster, turn interviews and feedback into first-draft PRDs and specs, and show up to planning with a working prototype instead of a deck — all sharpened by your own judgment. You can say concretely what it's replaced and where it breaks.

You're a strong communicator and collaborator. You get engineering, service, and GTM partners aligned without needing formal authority. You write and speak clearly, tight enough for an exec summary and deep enough for a technical reader, and you run a meeting that's worth people's time. Small contractors are great at their trade but lose 20+ hours a week to invoicing, permits, and paperwork. WorkHero has a team of expert office managers who run their back office, and their work is backed by automation and AI tooling that lets a small team do far more than they otherwise could. We launched in late 2024 and work with contractors across the country.\n\nWe're hiring a senior product manager to build the AI systems at the core of the product. It's a hard problem: getting an agent to reliably run a business's back office. It's also what determines how fast we grow, because the stronger these agents become, the more contractors each office manager can serve. This role is a key part of our company's next stage. You'd own that work alongside a small, senior team with deep experience in AI, product, and the trades.\n\n\n\n\nABOUT WORKHERO\n\nTens of thousands of small HVAC contractors, who keep our homes comfortable and enable the climate transition, are drowning in administrative work. Legacy software is clunky, full-time admins are expensive, and owners spend 20+ hours per week on paperwork.\n\nWorkHero changes that.\n\nOur platform combines agentic AI with human-in-the-loop operations to autonomously handle back-office workflows like invoicing, permits, rebates, pricebooks, warranty registration and a whole lot more. Instead of asking contractors to learn new tools, our AI agents do the work, with expert office managers providing oversight and operational coaching.\n\nThe result: real work gets done autonomously, helping small contractors grow profitable, resilient businesses while accelerating heat pump adoption nationwide.\n\nWe've raised over $8M to date and are backed by Navitas Capital, Workshop Ventures, York IE, and strategic angels including a former ServiceTitan executive. Our advisors include Chad Laurans (Founder of SimpliSafe) and Gerald Chertavian (Founder of Year Up).\n\n\n\n\nTHE ROLE\n\nYou'll be an early product hire working alongside our founding PM and co-founder. Where they hold strategy across the whole product, you go deep on the engine that does the work: our AI systems. You own the product question of whether each is genuinely accomplishing the user's goal, and how we know.\n\nThis is a senior individual-contributor role built around depth. You'll own one or two product verticals end to end, working close with engineering, service, sales, and the customer. You'll report to our founding PM, who holds product strategy and prioritization across the whole product. Within your area, you own the roadmap, the craft, and the results, and the closer you get to users, the more your work shapes where we go next.\n\nWe're looking for a high-craft PM who wants to be in the weeds on hard problems: shaping how an agent's prompt, tools, and knowledge cohere into one experience, holding a high bar on quality, and building the evals and instrumentation that show whether it works. Crucially, this is product work: you keep the user's goal at the center and treat evals as the instrument, not the job.\n\nThis is an AI-native role. You'll shape agentic systems, and you'll lean on AI heavily in your own work. If going deep while keeping the bigger picture in your head sounds like your kind of product work, keep reading.\n\n\n\n\nWHAT YOU'LL OWN\n\nOwn your workstream end to end. Own and evolve the roadmap for your product area: dependencies, delivery, and the calls to make when priorities shift. Take features from requirements through launch, documentation, and iteration, and keep a clear line of sight to whether they move adoption, retention, and revenue.\n\nTurn ambiguity into product. Translate messy, ambiguous user needs into concrete AI behaviors, workflows, and requirements. Boil complex technical tradeoffs down into product decisions your team can act on.\n\nStay close to users. Spend real time with our Senior Office Managers and contractor customers. Run discovery that gets past the surface: ask \"why\" with empathy, listen hard, and let what you learn drive what you build.\n\nDefine with engineering. Own the use cases, specs, and tradeoffs for your area. You're in the weeds by preference, not throwing specs over the wall, and you bring real UX instincts for the unstructured, AI-driven workflows this product runs on.\n\nHold the bar. You have a clear sense of what good looks like, and you keep raising the quality bar in your area. QA here is a partnership with our product-minded engineers, not a gate you stand at, and you help the team ship work everyone's proud of without slowing work down.\n\nProve it's working. Define success metrics across customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and agent performance, and drive continuous improvement through data, user feedback, and experimentation. Build the measurement muscle we don't have yet: own the KPIs, stand up the evals and instrumentation, and feed what you learn into the next round.\n\n\n\n\nWHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR\n\nYou have strong product management experience. You've owned products from strategy through launch, and you move easily between big-picture thinking and hands-on execution. You have real product judgment: you make the hard calls on priorities and tradeoffs, you know what to say no to, and you back your decisions with the right amount of data and research. You bring 4–6 years of product management experience.\n\nYou go deep while holding the big picture. You can live inside the details of a workstream and still hold the wider product and business in your head. You know which details matter and which don't.\n\nYou think in AI. You're curious and creative about what's newly possible, and happy to rethink a user experience from first principles rather than port over how it worked before. You understand LLMs well enough to reason about their limits and tradeoffs, and you can test an LLM pipeline in a structured way using no-code and prototyping tools.\n\nYou use AI as core infrastructure. It's woven through how you work: AI helps you get through discovery faster, turn interviews and feedback into first-draft PRDs and specs, and show up to planning with a working prototype instead of a deck — all sharpened by your own judgment. You can say concretely what it's replaced and where it breaks.\n\nYou're a strong communicator and collaborator. You get engineering, service, and GTM partners aligned without needing formal authority. You write and speak clearly, tight enough for an exec summary and deep enough for a technical reader, and you run a meeting that's worth people's time. You flag problems early and bring recommendations, not just questions.\n\nYou're comfortable where there's no playbook. You're scrappy, at ease building where there's no process yet, and you run independently on light direction. And you know the deal at a small startup: your job is to own your area deeply, but roles blur, and sometimes the highest-leverage move is to step outside your lane, which you're glad to do, without letting the bar slip on what's yours.\n\nYou raise the bar. You hold a high standard for craft and quality and can tell genuinely good work from merely fine, which is often in the details others skim past. You lift the standard of the people around you, without becoming precious about polish that doesn't matter.\n\n\n\n\nWHAT WOULD MAKE YOU EXCEPTIONAL\n\n - A strong eye for UX in web and mobile products, and especially for conversational interfaces (chat or voice), where much of this product lives\n\n - Hands-on experience building LLM-powered products or agents, like prompt, tool, and eval work, even from a side project.\n\n - Experience standing up an evals / measurement or instrumentation practice, or owning analytics in a prior role\n\n - Early- or growth-stage B2B SaaS product management experience; vertical SaaS or SMB tooling a plus\n\n - Familiarity with FSM software (Housecall Pro, ServiceTitan, Jobber) or the HVAC / field-service domain (nice to have, not required; our founding PM and Senior Office Managers hold the domain context, and you bring the technology foresight)\n\n\n\nWorkHero is committed to building a diverse team. We are at $1.5M in ARR, serve 55+ contractors across the country, and have raised over $9M in capital to date. We're hiring a Head of Growth to scale our growth engine and impact across the HVAC industry.\n\n\n\n\nABOUT WORKHERO\n\nAt WorkHero, our mission is to help the tens of thousands of independent HVAC contractors get their time back and build stronger businesses.\n\nSmall HVAC contractors keep our homes comfortable, but running the office takes time away from serving customers and growing the business. Hiring a full-time administrator is expensive, and software alone still leaves someone responsible for the invoicing, collections, and paperwork.\n\nWorkHero changes that. Our platform combines AI automation with expert HVAC office teams to handle back-office work inside the software contractors already use. We're backed by Navitas Capital, Workshop Ventures, York IE, and strategic angels including a former ServiceTitan executive.\n\n\n\n\nTHE ROLE\n\nYou’ll own our growth marketing function: strategy, budget, acquisition channels, conversion, and measurement. Your goal is to build a repeatable engine for acquiring well-fit contractors at sustainable acquisition costs. You’ll own qualified pipeline generation, partner with our founding AEs on conversion, and use customer outcomes to sharpen our targeting and messaging.\n\nYour initial focus will be strengthening our existing acquisition funnel, improving conversion and nurture, and establishing reliable measurement. You’ll then prioritize and test the next growth opportunities.\n\nThis is a hands-on, technical role. You’ll lead an existing bench of freelance specialists across paid media, content, and creative, with no employee direct reports initially. As we grow, you’ll help determine which capabilities to build in-house and hire the team. You’ll report directly to Furman Haynes, co-founder and CEO, with authority to set growth priorities and allocate the agreed budget.\n\n\n\n\nWHAT YOU'LL OWN\n\nStrategy and budget. You will own the growth plan and the budget to deliver on it. You will be responsible for determining where the next dollar goes, and which channels to scale, test, or stop.\n\nCustomer insights, messaging, and creative. You’ll turn customer conversations and sales-call patterns into sharper positioning, messaging, and campaigns. You’ll work with our freelance content team to turn customer proof, industry voices, and product demos into content that generates qualified pipeline.\n\nPaid acquisition. You’ll own paid performance, budget pacing, and creative testing, partnering with our freelance media buyer on execution. You’ll ensure conversion tracking and attribution into HubSpot are reliable.\n\nConversion and lifecycle. You’ll own improvements to website and landing-page conversion, lead nurture, and re-engagement. You’ll work with our AEs to turn more qualified interest into conversations and customers, with clear ownership of automated and personal follow-up.\n\nContent marketing. You will work with our content marketing team to turn our best content into a true lifecycle marketing engine.\n\nMeasurement and reporting. You’ll make our funnel reporting and attribution trustworthy, maintain a useful growth forecast, and provide clear growth updates to leadership and the board. You’ll own the underlying systems, with authority to simplify or replace them where that improves reliability and decision-making.\n\nAutomations and agents. You’ll build and maintain automations for lead enrichment and qualification, routing, follow-up, reporting and more, using scripts, integrations, or agents as appropriate. You’ll decide what we keep, simplify, or replace.\n\nExperimentation. You will identify and validate our next acquisition channels, which could include outbound, search, and industry partnerships.\n\n\n\n\nWHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR\n\nDemonstrated growth experience. You’ve built or scaled a repeatable acquisition motion with a small team. You’ve owned multiple channels and their budgets, and can show how your decisions generated qualified pipeline and customers.\n\nAnalytical judgment. You can diagnose where a funnel is breaking, decide what to test, and distinguish real performance changes from tracking problems. You connect channel results to qualified pipeline, acquisition cost, and customer quality (not just activity or lead volume).\n\nBuilder mindset. You can independently build or troubleshoot marketing workflows and integrations. You’re fluent in building leverage around yourself using AI and have used tools such as Claude Code, Codex, or comparable platforms to automate meaningful work. You know when to build, when to buy, and when a simpler process is enough.\n\nOwnership mindset. You've fixed a conversion drop and have the before-and-after numbers. You've shipped content that produced pipeline. You've caught bad data before it drove a decision. We care more about what you did at an early stage with no brief than where you've worked.\n\nTrue creativity.
